The Norwayne boys basketball team outscored the visiting Rootstown Rovers 20-7 in the first quarter on Tuesday night and never looked back as they knocked off the Rovers 63-45. The Cats were led by Quinn Hiles with 22 points(4 3’s) and 6 rebounds. Point guard Ben Draper added 5 triples of his own to finish the night with 18 points and 3 assists. Jake Hanzie rounded out the team’s 11 made 3-pointers with 2 to finish with 10 points. Hanzie was also able to grab 5 rebounds. Post player Joey Raudebaugh added 5 points and 8 boards for the hosts. Jacob Rupp(4 points, 8 rebounds), Ameer Cunningham(2 points, 4 rebounds) and Noah Saal(2 points, 2 rebounds) added to Norwayne’s 63 total points. The team was able to win the rebounding battle over Rootstwon 36-23. Norwayne is now 2-0 on the early season and will open up league play on Friday at home against Dalton.
