The Norwayne boys basketball team put 45 points on the board in the first half of their opener on Friday night to beat the visiting Coventry Comets 76-57. Junior Ben Draper led the way in the scoring column for the Cats with a team high 19 points. Draper also picked up 4 assists and added 3 rebounds. Senior Quinn Hiles had a solid all around game with 17 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Norwayne shot 36% from the floor on the night and made a total of 8 three pointers. Junior Jake Hanzie followed Draper and Hiles in double figures with 11 points of his own. Hanzie was also able to pull down 8 rebounds. Sophomore Jacob Rupp(8 points, 7 rebounds), Sophomore Noah Saal(8 points, 3 rebounds), Sophomore Ameer Cunningham(7 points, 7 rebounds), and Sophomore Joey Raudebaugh(6 points, 9 rebounds) rounded out the balanced scoring for Norwayne. The Cats are 1-0 on the early season and will host Rootstown on Tuesday night.
